Today I'm sharing three fun scrapbook layouts featuring the Toil & Trouble DSP (Designer Series Paper). While I, of course, made some Halloween layouts, I also wanted to illustrate stretching your supplies. Therefore, I've added in a twist on the witch's broom pattern.
Boo! Halloween Layout
My favorite pattern in this paper pack is the Ghosts. For my first layout, I paired the DSP with Gorgeous Grape, Basic Black, and Whisper White. Knowing that most Halloween photos are over the top, I kept my layout very simple. The DSP is cut at a fun angle to add some interest without detracting from the picture. The Lined Alphabet Stamp set was perfect for the title which I embossed in white on the Basic Black cardstock.
I colored my ghosts (stamped from the Cauldron Bubble Stamp Set) with Highland Heather Stampin Blends and finished them with Wink of Stella. For the finishing touches, we've got some Gorgeous Grape Glittered Dots and some black splatter from Timeless Textures. The bottom right corner boasts a Happy Halloween Greeting, also from the Cauldron Bubble set.
Swept Off My Feet Layout
I bet you're looking at this and thinking, 'Really, Merit? Romance?' And to that I say yes! Sure, I could use the Witch's Brooms as a Spring Cleaning Layout, but I really wanted to go a step further.
My title is "Swept Off My Feet" (again using the fab Lined Alphabet set). I used the Broom pattern for the base of my layout, adding a square of Whisper White matted with Real Red. For my "photo" I matted it with Soft Suede which I ran through the Big Shot with the AMAZING Corrugated Embossing Folder.
Fun fact: When you're pre-cutting the cardstock to run through this folder, cut longer than you need. While the width won't change, the curl really eats up your length. I cut mine 3/8" longer than I needed and it ended up just right.
I added some fun finishing touches, from the stamped Broom (Cauldron Bubble set), to the Stitched Labels Die Cut Hearts, and the bow. For the bow, I used Real Red 1/8" Solid Ribbon. This ribbon is honestly so lovely in person. There's just a hint of shimmer which can be hard to tell from the catalog photo.
Swept Off My Feet Layout
For my the third (and last) of my layouts, we're back to the thrills and chills. This was my favorite one to sketch out, as I am in LOVE with the Spooky Bats Punch. You can see more fun projects featuring the punch both here and here.
This layout is for 2 vertical photographs of different sizes, slightly overlapped. I used both sides of this DSP sheet; the bats and the stars. I really embraced the Halloween Colors, keeping my background black. Next I added Pumpkin Pie and Mango Melody bats throughout the page. On bottom I have two partial circles. The white circle has the "batty for you" sentiment from Trick or Tweet stamped twice.
I hope you enjoyed my projects today. I've been challenging myself to do more scrapbook layouts, and this was a fun evening of scrapping! Head on down to the comments and let me know your favorite was to stretch your DSP packs.
