Saved By The Bell
It's that time again; summer is ending, and school is back in session! This week I'm celebrating the start of a new school year and the teachers who provide our youth with an education.
Both of these projects are easy to complete and sure to turn someone's first day jitters into excitement. A quick card slipped in a lunchbox and a simple treat bag (because you can't send wine to school) for teacher are on tap today.
Never Judge a Book By It's Cover
For today's post I wanted to highlight a surprisingly versatile tool: The Envelope Punch Board. Perhaps you've seen this and decided it wasn't worthy of your wish list since you can always just buy envelopes pre-made and save some time. While I feel it's incredibly handy to have around when you're making a card which isn't the perfect size or making all-in-one envelope cards, there is much more this tool has in store.
From gift boxes, treat holders and more, if you browse Pinterest for ideas you will be blown away at the response! Today I'm using it to create a super cute file folder card. I found a great tutorial from Ellen Hutson to make the card though I did alter the dimensions slightly to fit my taste.
The Watts of Occasions set is great for making a first day of school encouragement card. I started with a Sahara Sand base and added touches of Crushed Curry, Basic Black, and Whisper White. The end result is a card that pops with small details and a whole lot of love!
If you ask yourself why you should do Teacher Appreciation gifts, just remember how thankless a job it is to raise children. After all, that's essentially what your kid's teachers are doing; shaping their minds. And no one knows better than moms (and dads) how difficult it can be to keep your cool when your kid is challenging your authority. Imagine if you had 30 of them doing it at once!
While my project will take no more than a few minutes to complete, it will let an educator know that they are appreciated. And that is the best part of hand crafted gifts and cards: showing others what they mean to us.
Thanks so much for stopping by and seeing my projects. Head down to the comments and let me know how you're celebrating the return of the school year!
