Days to Remember
Hey guys, I hope you're enjoying your summer! While we haven't been able to travel this season, we're lucky enough to live in a great area for a Staycation. We recently had family visiting and the kids wanted to visit Seaworld and Legoland. I was inspired to try something a little different to commemorate the occasion.
I've been playing with the Magical Mermaid stamp set quite a bit. While I was prepping for my Magical Mermaid Class, one of my mermaids was face down and partially covered by another sheet of card stock. That's when I noticed the tail could be an Orca tail! And really, Kennedy's greatest hope for Seaworld was for there to be mermaids there, so it's kind of poetic I think!
Shift Your Perspective
I stamped just the tail from the large mermaid and fussy cut it. Next, I used ZIG 2-way glue to create a repositionable mask. Here's where things got a little bit tricky.
I wanted an 1/8" mat around my photos. I found my dimensions and cut only the height. I positioned my photo (without adhering!) and placed my mask where I wanted it. With the mask in place, I cut my width for the mat, cutting around my tail mask. I removed my mask and I had Orca Tails!
I positioned everything on my 12" x 12" Whisper White Cardstock, added a strip of washi tape from the Pick A Pattern Washi Pack (I cannot stop using this washi pack guys) Next, I used the "Make A Splash" sentiment from Message in a Bottle in Tempting Turquoise across the top of the washi.
The finishing touches include hand-drawn journaling lines and splashed from the Magical Mermaid set. The page title, "Seas the Day" is from So Many Shells. If you didn't already know, I'm located in a beach community so all of these beachy sets were must-haves for my card rack in Encinitas Surfboards.
I hope I've inspired you to look at your stamp sets a little differently the next time you sit down to create! As always, I'd love to see what you've been creating lately so head on over to my Facebook page and post your latest project!
