I'm In Love & I Don't Care Who Knows It!
Hey guys, today I'm sharing a fun card I made with the Magical Mermaid stamp set. This set is full of gorgeous details and is great for anyone who likes to color. With sentiments that lend themselves beautifully to heat embossing, you'll get stunning projects every time.
Let's Dive In
I began by stamping just the tail o the mermaid. I used the watercolor pencils to color her, opting not to add water. This created a bright and vivid card.
To create my waves, I went to my Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies. While this die was designed as a scalloped edge, I used the negative side to create the sea in Bermuda Bay and Island Indigo.
On a background of Soft Sky, I stamped the sand/spray in Island Indigo. Next I stamped my sentiment on a piece of Very Vanilla. There are two ways to emboss with color; Versamark followed by a colored embossing powder is the traditional way. Instead I used the double stamping method.
To achieve this you apply Versamark to your stamp followed by the ink of your choice. In this case I used Pumpkin Pie and topped with clear embossing powder. I attached this to a piece of Island Indigo before adhering to my base.
Next up, I glued down the Island Indigo waves. The mermaid tail and Bermuda Bay waves got Stampin' Dimensionals to add a bit of depth. The finishing touch was a punched from Bermuda Bay with the Classic Label Punch.
I hope you like the finished card. My next mermaid card will utilize the scalloped edge of the same Thinlits die I used here. Be sure to check back for that!
