I'm In Love & I Don't Care Who Knows It!
Guys, I am seriously obsessed with the Message in a Bottle stamp set! I knew when I first saw it in the catalog that I had to have it. But I had no idea just how much fun I was in for. I'm sharing my first three designs in this post; they can all be found on my card rack in Encinitas Surfboards.
You Octopi My Heart
I've used this swirly paper on various ocean themed projects. I knew I wanted this card to be simple, so I left most of the white space. I drew "stitching" with a black Stampin' Write marker around the edges after mounting it on the patterned paper. Next I stamped my bottle in Bermuda Bay. The octopus is bright and fun in Tangerine Tango. Finally, I used an Aqua Painter in Soft Sky to color the "glass."

This next creation is my current favorite (and so much fun to make!). After all, if you're putting a message in a bottle you're usually trying to protect it from the sea. I started with a Kraft paper card base and added an embossed piece of Pool Party card on top. The Seaside Embossing folder is a perfect companion for this stamp set.
To create my ocean scene, I stamped 2/3 of the bottle and the love notes in Basic Black. The waterproof ink is vital for watercolor projects. I used Aqua Painters for all of the coloring. The notes are half So Saffron and half Sahara Sand. To achieve the depth of the ocean, I surrounded the bottle with Night of Navy, followed by Island Indigo and finished with Pacific Point. The Aqua Painters allow for a gorgeous range of color!
Oh Ship! Birthday Card
Here's another patterned paper from my stash I couldn't part with. I wanted to take this youthful, cartoonish paper and create a card to span the ages. Birthday cards always fly off the card rack, so I wanted to pop at least a few in.
Since I wanted to create a card for adults as well as the younger crowd, I used the Labeler Alphabet to create the sentiment. I highly recommend either stamping one letter at a time or using a Misti tool for this set. The versatility can't be beat for one of a kind designs.
I hope you enjoyed a look at these fun cards. They're all available in store at Encinitas Surfboards. Stay tuned for more new cards for the rack, and head on down to the comments to let me know your favorite!
