Every Day Heroes
The Brown Compound (2 1/2 acres which include our house and my in-law's house next door) is known for its parties, but none so much as the 4th of July. This epic bash boasted two bands and well over 300 attendees. The final party was in 2014, a month after my daughter's birth. The party had taken on a life of it's own with most guests not knowing anyone who lived on the property. That all changed this year, when we found a new reason to party.
If You Liked It, Then You Should've Put a Ring On It
What followed was two peaceful years of quiet family gatherings. My brother-in-law took the cancellation of the annual party to dodge a proverbial bullet. He said he had planned to propose to his long time girlfriend, but only at one of the parties.
While I don't know if this was the sole reason, this year the Compound was opened back up. Sure enough, Clint proposed to Kelly around the fire that night. Soon there will be another girl in the Brown family!
Capturing the Moment
While I missed the big ask (had to get Kennedy to bed), I wanted to commemorate the event. I decided to use the Colorful Seasons bundle to create a congratulations card for the happy couple. The inside is simply stamped with the sentiment "May All Your Tomorrows Be As Happy As Today."
For the front of the card, I cut two Adirondack Chairs from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper. I used another sheet to cut the logs for my fire. For the flames, I used an Aqua Painter on watercolor paper. To create the fireworks, I used the flower centers from Colorful Seasons. First I stamped with Versamark ink, then I used some embossing powders I had on hand to create the display.
I hope you like my creation. These are two of my favorite people and I can't wait to officially have another sister!
