If you’re a fan of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, this is the holiday card set for you!
This handcrafted set of 12 cards is completely unique to (mb)² designs. Each of the twelve designs is based on my interpretation of a scene from the classic film:
The Grace Card featured a combination of die cut words and images on a clean white background. Special details include Aunt Bethany’s Jello Mold complete with cat food.
Hey Dudes captures the moments before Clark went speeding off on his metal saucer, set off by a shimmery navy cardstock and hand splattered snowfall.
The Ugly Tree card sparkles from the tree skeleton to the words. Inside you’ll find an homage to Uncle Lewis’ toupee and stogie.
The Jelly of the Month Club card is shaped like a mason jar, made from clear acetate with an embossed jelly filling and a hand colored label.
The Eggnog Card gives a nod to Cousin Eddie and his mock turtleneck, as well as highlighting the Marty Moose cups he and Clark sipped from.
Deer Spotting brings to mind a favorite scene from early in the film. This card is pieces together entirely from paper down to the bird being flipped in the driver’s side window.
The RV has been a favorite of anyone who’s seen the set. The card is shaped like an RV decorated for Christmas, but the tip of the hat is inside, where you’ll find the hand colored “Merry Christmas! Shitter’s Full!”
The Todd & Margo card is another favorite and was the first I designed in this set. I can hear the sarcasm and frustration in their voices every time I read it!
Not Even The Cat is THAT scene where the ball of white fluff spent all 9 lives. You’ll see what’s left of the fur hand painted around the charred silhouette.
The Squirrel card is one of the most quoted lines in my family circle! There is so much texture and dimension here that compliments the simple layout of this card.
The Present is a card I’m especially proud of for the subtle details. From the argyle background similar to Rusty’s sweater to the blue birthday wrapping paper and pink ribbon on the box, this is sure to bring a laugh from any fan of the film.
Santa’s Fat Ass is the final card in the series. The standout here for me was the chimney, which was an ecru cardstock, embossed and hand colored with ink and pigment to mimic the look of real brick.
For more detail on each card, please check out the blog series 12 Days of Christmas Vacation. A lot of love went into each card, and I hope you love them as much as I do!
Each card measures approximately 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ (A2 Size) and comes with an envelope. The entire set of 12 cards comes in a hand made box for safe keeping.
